If you are already a graduate student in CS, Statistics, or Mathematics at UIUC, please contact me. I will recommend you take one of the graduate classes I teach (CS 581: Algorithmic Genomic Biology, or CS 598: Computational Scientometrics), both of which are likely to be offered in Fall 2023. These courses provide background to my research and include a course project that can be the start of a research collaboration.
If you are applying to an MS or PhD program at UIUC, then let me know and I will review your application. If there is a good fit betewen your intereests and mine, then we can continue with a zoom meeting to discuss potential research opportunities in my lab.
I do not have funding for postdocs, but if you are self-funded and have published in one of my research areas (community detection, phylogenomics, or computational historical linguistics), then please contact me.
If you are interested in a summer REU, please apply through the Summer Research Program in the CS department.
If you are already at UIUC and are looking for a research project during the academic year, please take one of my courses (CS 581: Algorithmic Genomic Biology or CS 598: Computational Scientometrics) first.
