A survey of theoretical results for species tree estimation in the presence of incomplete lineage sorting

Incomplete lineage sorting (ILS) is a common source of discordance between gene trees. In this talk, I will review known results regarding the identifiability, consistency and data requirement of species tree estimation under ILS, both with and without the assumption that true gene trees are known. I will also mention some open problems along the way.
