CIPRES Project
CIPRES (Cyber-Infrastructure for Phylogenetic
Research) was a multi-institutional
NSF-funded grant (2003-2010) whose overarching goal was
"To provide the computational infrastructure needed to reconstruct phylogenies for
millions of taxa."
The project included 33 faculty, including biologists,
computer scientists, statisticians, and mathematicians,
working together to develop software and mathematical theory for
large-scale phylogeny estimation,
to test methods, and to perform outreach to the public
and the scientific community.
The CIPRES project
left a legacy in the students and postdocs
it trained, and also in the CIPRES Portal (which is now
available through the TeraGrid) and
the CIPRES Science
Gateway.
An abridged version of the
CIPRES final report is also available.
